A SD 60/2-1 tobacco curing kiln ®
Energy sources
Hot-water energy sources for heating of drying air:
- conventional energy source
- alternative energy source
Conventional energy source:
- Natural gas
(Gas facade boiler with working temperature up to 85°C)
Alternative energy source:
- Energy of waste air coming out of the drying process, without mixing with fresh air entering the tobacco curing kiln – energy recovery.
Ethylenglycol is the medium.
Display of some parts of the tobacco curing kiln:
Facade boiler installed in energy chamber
System for humidifying
with water vapour and buffer tank
Humidifying of tobacco overlaps the cooling period. The humidifying starts an hour after start of work of cooling system. If tobacco producer has one set of racks more than the number of tobacco curing kilns, then the time of cooling and packing of tobacco can overlap the time of picking tobacco for drying for the next cycle.
Ethylenglycol/air heat exchanger
Through recirculation of ethylenglycol, required amount of energy is added continuously to the drying air.

Conventional energy sources:
1) Gas hot-water boiler
1.1) natural gas Hsng = 35000 kJ/m3
- Condensation facade gas boiler, boiler utilization rate 92% of Hsng
0.296 to 0.333 m3/ kg of cured tobacco
1.2) natural gas Hing = 32400 kJ/m3,
- Conventional facade gas boilers, boiler utilization rate 92% of Hing
0.32 to 0.36 m3/ kg of cured tobacco,
2) Coal hot-water boiler, boiler utilization rate 75% of Hic
2.1) coal Hic = 13400 kJ/kg
0.88 tо 1.00 kg/kg of cured tobacco
2.2) coal Hic = 24290 kJ/kg
0.49 to 0.55 kg/kg of cured tobacco
3) Fuel oil hot-water boiler, boiler utilization rate 85% of Hifo
3.1) fuel oil Hifo = 42840 kJ/kg
0.262 to 0.295 kg/kg of cured tobacco
