Our tobacco curing barns come in various configurations that meet higher grower’s demands related to
modern tobacco agriculture.

Adesco curing barns come in four different models, differing only in hot water generating sources.

FOAM INSULATED WALL & ROOF PANELS

GALVANIZED FRAME, RACKS AND BOXES

PERFORATED GALVANIZED STEEL FLOOR

PREFABRICATED MODULES

Adesco tobacco barns are designed to meet farmers’ crop capacity and maximize barn filling and curing efficiencies

- Single barn for small farms

- Group of barns with a separate hot water boiler room for large farms

- Barn capacity: 42-60-78-90 racks or 4–6 boxes

- Green tobacco per rack: 70-80 kg

- Curing time: 110-120 hours per cure

- Cures per season: 12-16 cures

FEATURES

- Indirect heating of drying air by water-to-air heat exchanger

- Efficient recovery of heat energy from hot and wet exhaust air

- Upward airflow of drying air

- Optimal air exchange rates and air pressure

- Uniform distribution of drying air, its humidity and temperature throughout barn

- Minimal deviation from drying air programmed parameters

- The finest tobacco moistening by over-heated water steam

- Easy operation and simple control of curing process

All models are equipped with

HOT WATER BOILER
- outlet water temperature up to 80°C
- 40 kW heating power for tobacco barn with 60 racks
- fuels: biomass pellets, wood logs, field and crop residues, natural gas, LPG, fuel oil or coal subject to installment of corresponding burners
- automated fuel feeding
- own automatics
AIR-TO-WATER
HIGH TEMPERATURE
HEAT PUMP
- outlet water temperature up to 80°C
- average COP 4.1
- heating capacity up to 45 kW for tobacco barn with 60 racks
- own automatics
CENTRAL HOT-WATER BOILER ROOM
A hot water boiler or air-to-water heat pump is installed in the energy chamber of each barn or in a separate hot water boiler room to centrally supply hot water to all barns in the group.

Central hot-water boiler room can be used out of the tobacco curing season for heating of greenhouses used for growing tobacco seedlings and vegetables, for heating of residential objects or for drying of other locally grown cash crops thus minimizing payback period.
DRYING AIR HEATING EQUIPMENT
The drying air is indirectly heated by water-to-air heat exchanger and air-to-air plate heat exchanger, thus preventing combustion gases from entering the drying chamber and reducing tobacco-specific nitrosamine (TSNA) content of dried tobacco leaves.

High efficient water-to-air heat exchanger enables continuous supply of heat energy to the drying air providing evenly heating without temperature oscillation.

Air-to-air plate heat exchanger transfers the heat energy from hot and wet exhaust air to the fresh outside air while preheating it and significantly reducing the consumption of the main heat source.
DRYING AIR CIRCULATION EQUIPMENT
Forced air circulation is provided by:

- radial fan
- 2,2 kW electric motor for tobacco barn with 60 racks
- frequency regulator for adjusting the fan electromotor revolutions
CURING MANAGEMENT DEVICES
The temperature and relative humidity of drying air are monitored, displayed and automatically regulated by custom-made Automatic Process Control (APC) system consisting of:

- temperature and humidity sensors, placed in the drying chamber
- thermostat and hygrostat, programmable devices placed in control panel
- various actuators, placed inside energy chamber

The drying air parameters will be adjusted according to the quality of harvested tobacco leaves.

Programmed parameters depend on:
- tobacco leaf varieties
- maturity of tobacco
- leaf position on the stalk
- weather conditions during harvesting season
